Real Estate and Related Experience
Rick represents companies, lenders and individuals in both commercial and residential real estate transactions. His practice includes representation of lenders and developers in the acquisition, development, construction, leasing, financing and sale of commercial real estate and improved properties, and the formation of various types of legal entities for those purposes. His clients include lenders making loans secured by real estate and other collateral, developers, owners acquiring, improving and selling commercial and multi-family property for their own use or to lease to tenants, and landlords and tenants in commercial leases.
Mr. Oshman has closed thousands of loans to individuals, corporations, LLCs, partnerships, trusts, estates, churches, and others for real estate, commercial, and personal purposes. He has also been involved in numerous workout/foreclosure matters for lenders.
Rick has extensive experience in construction matters, representing both owners and contractors in the negotiation of construction contracts and resolving construction disputes.

Rick has been a member of the American, Texas, Houston and Dallas Bar Associations.
Rick has been a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation since 1997.
Rick’s State Bar section memberships include Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law, Corporation, Banking and Business Law.
Rick has served as a member and Chairman of the District 4-G Grievance Committee of the State Bar of Texas, was a member of the Business Law Section Special Committee on UCC Article 2A Leasing, is a member of the Texas Association of Bank Counsel, and has served on the Title Insurance Subcommittee of the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
Rick is a moderator and top contributor of Texas Real Estate Lawyers, a private 2,700-member Facebook group established to provide licensed real estate lawyers a forum for discussion and brainstorming on topics and issues, from ad valorem taxes to zoning, impacting their practices.
Personal and Community Activities
Rick is a native Texan, born on December 3, 1944, and raised in Rosenberg, Texas. Rick’s family includes his wife of over 50 years, as well as two adult children, their spouses and two granddaughters.
Rick has been active in civic affairs including having been an officer and President of the Village Place Community Association, a board member and officer of the Avalon Property Owner’s Association, and a board member and officer of the RIVA at the Park Condominium Owners Association.
Rick has been a member of the Board of Trustees and an officer of Congregation Emanu El of Houston (in which he has served on numerous committees, was Chair and is a long term active member of its Cemetery Committee, recently served on its Governance Review Task Force, and as Co-Chair of its Bylaw Revision Task Force). He is also a long term participant in its adult education programming.
Rick has an interest in genealogy in which he continues to construct his complex family tree on Ancestry.com (which tree is now approaching 20,000 persons and goes back to the year 875).
